Yes, it's true! I closed my store in October of 2009 and now, almost 2 years later, I will reopen! I am really looking forward to the reopening and you should too since I will have many items on MAJOR sale plus many new items to choose from.

Things will be a little different than before since now I have two other jobs. This will be my place to have fun and create! I am really looking forward to it.

More details will follow, but wanted to give you a heads up! My goal is to reopen by the end of September 2011.

Strangely therapeutic

Not sure why... I've never been one to write in journals, now I wonder if I should. Why does writing in my blog feel like a sort of therapy to me. I was just looking over my blog and realized that on the day that my dog, Bandit, passed away, I actually wrote a blog post about it! The day is a bit of a blur to me... I don't recall thinking "hmmm... go write a post about this". Maybe I just wanted the world to know how sad I was... why did it matter that the world know though? Does the world knowing make it easier? Does having more people feel sad make it easier? It's interesting to me how therapeutic blog writing is. I'm sure if I google "why does writing in a journal make one feel better" I'd come up with a lot of answers... I won't google though. I'll ponder this thought until I come up with some ideas of my own.

What could be better than a canoe trip on Labor Day? I say nothing :) That's what my family and my friends did this past Monday. It was a nice day... the rain missed us. Of course we saw turtles sunning themselves on the logs... a few lilys and just the beauty of the trees and river. It was relaxing and rejuvinating.

We went to the Camp Hi Canoe Livery in Hiram OH. We've been going there for years, but it was Amelia's first time.

Oh and almost forgot to mention this! We docked at a clearing along the river. Before kids this is the place that we used to dock to eat and drink... we walked up to a clearing and saw a farm. It was very picturesque... you can see it in the background in the close-up of Phil. This is where the farmer yelled at us to get off of his property and fired a shotgun up into the air!! wow... now I can say I've been shot at! haha

Over the past few days, since Bandit's soul has left the Earth, I've moved through various stages of grieving. The first (now these are not textbook, I'm sure) was shock. He's gone... how did this happen so fast?! Then, I moved into pure sadness. My Bandit is gone... I miss him.. I'm cutting a cantaloupe and he's not at my feet begging for some. I'm walking outside and he's not running to be with me... the cats are running around like crazy and he's not coming to check it out... oh... there's some of his hair in the corner... where's his blanket? his food bowl is empty... I just ordered Advantage for him, it hasn't even come yet... where are all of my pictures of him... where's his leash, his collar, his toy? It was so strange and empty not having him here. Then I was mad... why did the vet leave me in the room for 1/2 an hour believing we could fix him!? I imagined him on the trail in the park.. walking him to the square... healing from surgery with my loving touch, hugs and kisses. How could they do that to me? Then guilt... I should have spent more time with him. I should have brushed him the other day.. if I'd known it was his last day eating cantaloupe, I would have given him the whole thing. If I'd known it was the last day that we'd walk to the square, I would have walked for hours.... if I'd known it was his last night sleeping next to our bed, I would have pet him longer before falling asleep. Then ... OK ... he's taught me so much about life and death. My little Bandit, without even knowing it... has reminded me to never, ever, ever take for granted the relationships that I have. Never go to bed angry... always pray for my family and friends... call them more... love them more... less anger... more joy and time spent together. Eat all of the cantaloupe. I love you Bandit! Thank you for all you've done for me. You made my life so much better by just being in it.

My beloved friend passed away today.... here's a letter that my mom wrote to me

Dear Julie, Phil and Amelia-

My heart is sadden with the passing of our special friend Bandit. I remember him as a springy little young guy running like a gazelle around my front yard. Running as fast as he could, jumping as high as he could, running, running, running - jumping over our beloved Shadow - so high it looked like Bandit was flying. We would laugh so hard. The more we laughed the more he would fly through the air.

I remember how he loved Tucker. You would ask Bandit do you want to go to see Tucker - he was off and running to the car. And making happy sounds as he rounded the corner of the street heading to our house.

I remember just the other day how every time I would come over to your house and Bandit would hear my voice he would pick up his tired little body and come over to me. He would look up at me smiling waiting for me to say - “Hi, Good Boy! How are you today”

God has taken Bandit into his arms. He has taken Bandit’s tired little body and made it so he can run and fly again like he used to in my front yard. He has put a smile on Bandit’s face by lifting all his soreness and stiffness - he has taken away his cloudy eyes and made them clear again so he can find his friends Shadow, Emma and Mr. Bunny. Bandit is running in tall grass, through clear streams - running with his friends - he is feeling joyful with his newness in God’s hands.

We miss ou dear little friend - he made us all smile. He gave us many years and then hung in there a little longer. My love and hugs are with you all today as you work through this sadness. When you’re able go through your photo’s - and look for all those special moments with that crazy little dog Bandit and smile again.

Overwhelmed With Joy

I was baptized in Nov. of 2008. Even though at the time, I was fully aware of my decision, I had no idea of the joy and blessings that accepting Jesus as my saviour would bring. I am so filled with happiness, filled with the feeling of love and filled with a sense of purpose... more so than ever before in my life. This is not something that I can explain... it's just something that is inside of me. Based on my studies, I'm pretty sure it's the Holy Spirit at work :) Never before has a tree looked so beautiful and intricate. Never before has an apple tasted so sweet and looked so artfully made. Even a glass of water tastes better than ever before. Realizing that God has put this all on Earth out of his love for me overwhelms me at times. God's creations continue to inspire me... I am in awe.

My Peace Lovin' 3rd Grader

3rd Grade!?! When did this happen!? Today is Amelia's first day of school. She's starting the 3rd grade and gets to go to a special class once a week for gifted kids (don't like the name of that.. but that's what the government calls it). The morning was wonderful. It's a beautiful day, Amelia had her outfit picked out (we even did her toes and nails to match on Sat.). We walked to school through our little town square. Picture perfect :) I'll pick her up and bring Ruthie with me to surprise her after school. Can't wait to hear about her day....

Where Have I Been?

Hi! I've been away for awhile... my laptop broke, my Etsy shop was closed (temporarily!), I've started a new full-time job, I will be starting a new part time job at my church and we got a puppy! School starts for Amelia this coming week. Life has been busy and new. I haven't touched my jewelry for months... but starting to get in the swing of things.

Going forward, my blog will include new jewerly, thoughts about God and my growing relationship, news on our puppy Ruthie and updates about my family and friends.

My store is opened with a few items that may look familiar, but there will be new items to come.

This blog will be about Ruthie, our new pup. We adopted her on 7/4/09 all the way from Delaware OH. She's a Cattle Dog Beagle mix. She's adorable, but really a handful!

Hi everyone... just wanted to tell you what's been going on lately.

I was contacted by someone from my old line of work and I'll be starting back there on Monday! I'm really looking forward to it. I've been cooped up in the house making thousands of pieces of jewelry for the last 3.5 years. Not that I haven't loved it, but it's time for a change again. I'll still be making jewelry.. just not as often. My Etsy site will remain and I will be adding new designs. I'm thinking many 1-of-a-kind pieces will be popping up.

Thank you to everyone who has supported puffluna these past years. I am so appreciative to all of you. I find it hard to express how grateful I am to you and to Etsy for providing me with the opportunity to stay at home with my daughter Amelia. It's been a dream come true.

Tadpole Season!

Every year since Amelia has been 5 she has been obsessed with the tadpoles in Grandma's backyard. There's a swampy area where the frogs come and lay eggs every year. We get to see all of the stages of development. Amelia has no fear and just sticks her hands in the mucky water to catch tadpoles. This year she actually picked up some of the gooey egg sacs too. It was a wonderful day :)

My new line is now available! I'm am really excited about this (and so is my little artist, Amelia!) I decided that I wanted to wear her art and have it with me wherever I go. I took one of her drawings (see the whole picture above) and chose a part of it to print and put in my pendant. I seal it with a gloss that leaves a shiny coating, almost glass-like, on top. These are currently available in gold plate and a shiny brass locket. I will be offering silver pendant and rings soon. You can choose the pendant style and chain. The chain is gold-fill. One of the chains is a delicate cable chain and the other is a link chain that's a bit larger. These are $45 and available now in my Etsy store!

To order, you'll scan your artwork into your computer and attach it to an email. You can send the email to me and I'll open the art and crop a section or use the entire thing. I'll send you some options via email and make the pendant! The whole process will take 2 weeks.

obsessed with potty talk?? Why does saying a potty word make them crack up? My daughter does it, but she's normal (well...)! Her friends do it too! They can say a word, any bodily function that has to do with going to the potty or a result of the act and literally go into hysterics. I can't figure it out.... when will this phase end?? :)

Anyway... today is Wednesday, three minutes from Thursday. I couldn't take any photos today since the skies here were too gray so I'll post one of my current favorites. Everything is still 10% off!

I finally bought some... Czech Cathedral Beads. They are really gorgeous in person. They are a great translucent olive shade with golden tips. I strung some with brass wire and added a pretty gold and red glass rose and brass chain to make this asymmetrical necklace pictured.

Not much work will get done here in Chardon today. It's another snow day! I have to find things for us to do around the house since it's too bad to go play outside. I'm pretty sure I'm stuck here today too. Looking out the window I see that the city has run out of salt. I don't think I'm getting out of the driveway, let alone down the street. On a Mission

I'm on a mission to use all of my supplies that I already have. Once again, I'll try very hard not to buy new until the old is gone. I know you've heard this before, but this time, I'm going to do it! This is why you'll see a wide range of styles and colors coming over the next few weeks.

Nothing Much to Say

I'm staring at this blank text area. I can't really think of much to say! I'm tired... didn't do so well with the going to bed early goal that I set for myself last week. I really have to work on that this week.

Since I'm out of words, I'll just post a photo of the snow on my table outside. I measured it. 23 1/2 inches as of yesterday afternoon. It's still snowing so it's probably passed 24 inches by now! There's also a photo of Amelia and her friend standing on the snow mound at the end of our driveway yesterday. Kid's paradise!

I had to throw in a picture of Amelia at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens a couple of weeks ago too. It was misting at the time that I took the photo (she wanted to wear a flower in her hair so a butterfly would land on it)! We went with Grandma and Grandpa and had a nice, warm time :)

I guess I had more to say than I thought!

I know ...SNOB! I just like to be unique and I feel well... not unique when I'm standing in a room with someone else and we look the same. My point you ask? My point is I LOVE ETSY! I haven't been able to buy many things for myself, but there is a list a mile... no, two miles long of things that I want. The few things that I do have (thank you Jean and Lisa (mmm coffee) for two of them!) I cherish. I really like when people ask me where I got my purse and I can tell them all about Etsy. It's a great feeling on many levels.

I've created all new sections to make shopping in my store easier (at least I hope so!) Please leave comments if you like/hate/don't care... it would be great for me to receive the feedback.

I've also removed shipping fees on additional items. Every item after the first, ships for free!

I'm in the process of retaking photos on different backgrounds. Not sure if I'll go with it, but thought I'd give it a try.

My glass locket necklaces are coming back too and I will have some great new sterling silver necklaces to list over the weekend (maybe Friday too, but schools cancelled so not sure how much time I'll have).

I added three Cherry Quartz pieces to my site yesterday!

It's 3 degrees here in Chardon, OH. We're cold and huddling around the radiators! Brrrrr!

It's funny... last year I couldn't play in the snow with Amelia since I didn't have the right gear. My mom gave me some snow gear for my birthday this year, so now I have no excuses. Not having gear was a great excuse! I'm not much of a play in the snow kind of person since I would rather be inside under a warm blanket, but this year, I've played. I have to admit it's fun... to a point. 5 minutes is enough for me. My excuse today and for the next few days is "sorry, it's too cold outside" :) phew!

First, I was completely inspired and awed by the amazing view tonight. I looked outside and saw sparkles! Sparkles everywhere! I had to go outside to take a closer look. The moon was full and white, right behind my Black Walnut tree. This caused the shadow of the tree to form perfectly on the untouched snow which was so sparkly I could hardly take it! I was standing outside with my jaw dropped in complete awe of the beauty (then I realized that I was FREEZING and should probably close my mouth and go back inside). I would have taken a photo, but it would not have shown the beauty that I saw with my own eyes.

puffluna's goals for the week ahead:
1) make something sparkly white and dark based on the sparkly inspiration that I got tonight
2) revamp some of my photos (taking all new photos)
3) contact a local store owner to ask her if she would allow me the opportunity to sell some of my jewelry in her store
4) call a local school about an advertising opportunity
5) fill all orders
6) create new pieces
7) continue to organize work area (paint shelves)

...she's wearing this necklace with her black dress. It's raining so she's under a black umbrella with the city lights reflecting off the wet pavement. She's running to get to the restaurant...

This necklace is made with English cut glass beads (rough facets) that I wire wrapped together with oxidized sterling silver wire. The color is amazing. One of those open the envelope and gasp moments for myself :)

Snowy Snowy Wednesday

Chardon, OH... I love it here. I've been here a little over 3 years now and I am still stunned by the amount of snow that falls right here on this little town. Last year the papers reported that we had more snow here, in Chardon, than Alaska had. I'm remembering that article as I look out to see drifts of snow that are almost a foot high. Since it's early in the season, I can still say that it looks pretty... the way it coats the trees and the rooftops. Come talk to me again a the end of December and we'll see how pretty I think it looks :) ( I talked to a friend who live 1/2 hour away and it rained there yesterday)

I forgot to do the Friday special! Things have been pretty hectic here the past week. My basement flooded... the ceiling in the bathroom literally fell down, Amelia had 2 school projects, I had an errr, 3 day disagreement with the bank, it snowed 10 feet (well, maybe not 10)... this by no means is me complaining! It's just been hectic. One of those weeks that you thank God that you have a basement to flood, a ceiling over your head to come crashing down, a beautiful child an A+ school right down the street a bank to argue with :) and the beauty of freshly fallen snow. Anyway... I blame this on the reason I forgot to post the special today.

The Last Leaves

There are two ways that my designs come to life. The first way, and most common, is when I stare at my supplies and ponder. The second way, and my favorite, is when the piece is inspired by something specific. This occured the other day and resulted in these earrings that I call The Last Leaves. Imagine:

1) to form a mental image of (something not actually present to the senses).

2) to suppose; think; conjecture.

I've always loved the word IMAGINE. It's a simple word that I think looks pretty and holds so much meaning. It's the word that I use when I look at my beads. It's the word that I've always stated over and over to my daughter, Amelia, when she is looking at something to either figure it out or just contemplating over something. I actually hung the word in her baby room to engrain it into her. It's so important to use and to have.

Since I am not a graphic designer, I've struggled with branding my store on Etsy. I've imagined what I'd like, but never quite got there in my head. Then, it happened. I found SeaDreamStudio on Etsy and started browsing the designs in the store. There it was!! Exactly what I wanted! Not only is my favorite word in it, the image of the girl flying away on the bird just floored me. I had to have it and now it is mine. Thank you Dale!

I'm a happy girl today, flying on the little bird who will take me to places that I've dreamed of deep in my imagination :)
